The plane of U.S. President Donald Trump landed in Beijing on May 13. At the ramp, he was met by Chinese officials, an orchestra, as well as dozens of young men and women with flags of China and the USA, CNN reports.
During the three-day visit to China, the key event will be negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The delegation accompanying Trump included, among others, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, as well as top executives from Boeing, Meta, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, and Visa.
The main topics of the talks are U.S.-China trade relations, the situation regarding Iran, and the development of high technologies.
Meduza reminds that Donald Trump’s previous official visit to China took place in November 2017, during his first presidential term.
The planned trip to China in 2026 was supposed to take place at the end of March, but in light of the conflict between the USA, Israel, and Iran, the visit was postponed.
Donald Trump had already met with the Chinese President after the start of his second presidential term. Their first negotiations in six years were held in October 2025 at the APEC 2025 summit in South Korea.
