DUSHANBE, November 13, 2009, Asia-Plus — A ceremony of handover of humanitarian aid of the Slovak Republic to Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe yesterday.
The assistance included medicines and warm clothes worth more than €221,000.
Speaking at the assistance-handover ceremony, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Tajikistan with residence in Tashkent, Mr. Josef Macisak, noted that it was already the second tranche of the assistance of Slovakia to Tajikistan.
The first tranche worth €225,000 was handed over to Tajikistan last May already. “In all, the Government of Slovakia has provided €500,000 worth of assistance to Tajikistan, taking into account transportation expenses,” Josef Macisak said.
According to him, the assistance is intended for the Khatlon province that was seriously hit by disasters last spring. However, the second tranche was delivered to Tajikistan with a delay for technical reasons, and therefore, the Government of Tajikistan will decide itself to what areas this cargo will be sent, Slovakian diplomat noted.
