KHUJAND, April 19, 2010 Asia-Plus  — Over the first three months of this year, 17 crimes have been committed by officers and soldiers of military units deployed in Sughd province, which is 51 percent fewer than in the same period last year, the Sughd military prosecutor said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the crimes reported over the first quarter included mainly desertion, bullying, thefts and frauds.

“No one suicide among servicemen has been registered over the report period,” said the prosecutor, “However, there was one killing, when one soldier was shot dead by his colleague.”
