DUSHANBE, April 21, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A scientific-practical conference entitled, Water Is the Source of Life, was held in Dushanbe on April 20.

Initiated by the Ministry of Education (MoE), the conference brought together representatives from local research institutes and universities to discuss issues related to rational use of water resources, raising culture of the use of water, anthropogenic impact on water resources, etc.

Inaugurating the conference, the Minister of Education Abdujabbr Rahmonov, in particular, noted that the country’s strategy was aimed at rational use of water resources and implementation of hydroelectricity projects that would help tackle not only the domestic problems of the country but also the regional water use problem.

According to him, recommendations adopted at the conference may become foundation for an international conference on water problem that is expected to take place in Dushanbe in the summer.
