DUSHANBE, April 4, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon yesterday afternoon received visiting Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Dr. Taleb Rifai.

According to presidential press service, the sides discussed cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and UNWTO.  They stressed that in many countries of the world, tourism became one of key sectors of economy.

Dr. Rifai noted that an agreement between UNTWO and Tajikistan that would be singed in the near future would promote development of tourism and relevant industries in Tajikistan. 

We will recall that the UNWTO Secretary-General arrived in Tajikistan yesterday morning, at 2:00 am, on a three-day working visit.  During his stay in Tajikistan, Dr. Rifai will hold talks with high-raking Tajik state officials to discuss issues related to expansion of cooperation between the UNWTO and Tajikistan.  He is also planned to visit Gorno Badakhshan.
