KHUJAND, October 13, 2010, Asia-Plus — A village teacher has been detained in Sughd province on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.
According to the Sughd police directorate, the 38-year-old teacher from Mastchoh district, J.D., was detained in a special operation carried out by local police officers.
“He was arrested in Khujand yesterday while pushing 1.10 kilograms of hashish to police officer in civilian clothes who acted as drug buyer,” said the source, “Several days before that, J.D. pushed 650 grams of hashish for US$500.00 to another dummy buyer in Bobojonghafurov district.”
The teacher has previous conviction for drug pushing and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 200 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking.
