DUSHANBE, March 27, 2012, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon yesterday held a number of meetings with representatives of a number of international organizations participating in the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA V) in Dushanbe.

According to president’s official website, President Rahmon’s meeting with Mr. Jan Kubis,  

Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan focused on issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations and reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy.

President Emomali Rahmon and Ms. Noeleen Heyzer, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP discussed preparations for conferences on Afghanistan that will take place in Tokyo and Bangkok in July and November this year.

President’s Rahmon’s talks with Mr. Muhammad Yahya Maroofi, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) focused on attraction of investments for implementation of the Central Asia South Asia Electricity Trade and Transmission Project (CASA 1000) and construction of a rail link connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran.
