A new building for Iran Embassy will soon appear in the diplomatic area in Dushanbe, where embassies of Russia, Germany and Afghanistan are located.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was held on Monday, April 16th.

A new 4-storey building of the embassy will occupy a territory of 9000 square meters, which was allocated by the Dushanbe Mayor’s Office, the Iran Embassy told the AP.

Furthermore, a new symbolic building will be constructed on the opposite side of the new embassy building, which will symbolize friendship of three Persian-speaking countries – Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

According to the embassy, the building will be constructed by the Iranian “Mehrobod” construction company. The construction is expected to be completed by spring 2013. Currently, Iran embassy in Tajikistan is located in one of old-fashioned mansions in central Dushanbe on Bokhtar 18 street.

According to Tajik Foreign Ministry, diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Iran were established on January 9, 1992. The same year Iran opened its embassy in Tajikistan and become the first country to open its embassy in independent Tajikistan.
