Heavy rainfalls in mountain area not far from Tajik-Kyrgyz border caused mudflows in Ergash Sharipov Jamoat in Kanibadam.

Mudflows occurred at approximately 8p.m. local time in Madaniyat, Pakhtakor and Niyezbek villages, the city Headquarter of complex field maneuvers, which are currently taking place in this area, told AP.

The mudflow flooded a local fish farm and caused damage to a local poultry farm and a couple of fields.

Villagers were evacuated to safe places. Timely evacuation was carried out by local authorities and representatives of the Tajik Government’s emergency committee. Furthermore, banks of the Big Fergana Channel were strengthened.

Special emergency commission was set up to calculate the damage.

Tajik Government’s Emergency and Civil Defense Committee is carrying out complex maneuvers in Kanibadam which started on April 24 and involve republican and regional units of the emergency committee, related ministries and departments.
