DUSHANBE, June 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – The government considered and approved the plan of actions for the second half-year of 2013 at a June 28 meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon.
According the president’s official website, Minister of Agriculture Qosim Qosimov reported on the progress of implementation of the national fishery development program designed for 2009-2015. The minister, in particular, noted that the number of fish farms in the country has increased from 8 to 150 since the program was launched in the country.
President Rahmon, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the process of implementation of the program and offered to consider it once again until the end of this year.
Chairperson of the Baljuvon district in the Khatlon province reported on implementation of the law on local authorities in the area.
The meeting participants also considered forecasts for the key macroeconomic indicators of Tajikistan for 2014-2016.
An annual population growth is expected to exceed 580,000 people and the country’s population will reach 8.581 million in 2016. Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to reach 48.5 billion in 2014, 55.54 million somoni in 2015 and 63.2 million somoni in 2016.
GDP’s annual growth rate will be 7.6 percent and inflation is expected to stand at 7.5, 7.0, and 6.5 percent respectively in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
