DUSHANBE June 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan is hosting the 3rd Central Asian Social innovation Cam (SICamp) this year.
Organized by Tajikistan’s Association of Internet Service Providers in partnership with Transition on-Line (TOL) under financial support of the Soros Foundation Kazakhstan, Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan, and Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan), the 3rd Central Asian Social Innovation Camp takes place at the Royal-Yavroz Tourist Complex in the Romit Gorge from June 29 to July 3.
According to OSI/AF-Tajikistan, 80 young programmers, designers, journalists, entrepreneurs and public activists from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are participating in the event.
During three days, the teams will work on creating an online product or mobile attachment aimed at seeking solution to any social problem.
The 1st Central Asian Social Innovation Camp was held in Kyrgyzstan in 2011 and the 2nd Central Asian Social Innovation Camp was hosted by Kazakhstan in 2012.
Social Innovation Camp (SICamp) is a competition and event for software developers, designers and social innovators to create new businesses and projects that use the web to achieve a social goal. It is a method for social innovation. Social innovation refers to new strategies, concepts, ideas and organizations that meet social needs of all kinds — from working conditions and education to community development and health — that extend and strengthen civil society.
