DUSHANBE, December 27, 2013, Asia-Plus – A court in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Smoni district has imposed fines upon five supporters and relatives of jailed tycoon Zayd Saidov.

One of Saidov’s defense lawyers, Shuhrat Qudratov, says members of the initiative group for establishment of the New Tajikistan party Mahmoudjon Qosimov and Mavjouda Sohibnazarova as well as Saidov’s relatives Saidmahboub Tohirov, Fayziddin Archayev and Ikrom Abdulloyev were fined 120 somoni each for refusing to follow police instructions

We will recall that on December 25, they gathered outside the pretrial detention center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), where a sentence was being handed down on Zayd Saidov.

Supporters and relatives of Zayd Saidov reportedly refused to follow instructions of police officers who demanded that they leave the territory outside the SCNS-run pretrial detention center.

According to some sources, known Tajik human rights activist Oynihol Bobonazarova, Professor Hojimuhammad Umarov and known Tajik stage director Barzou Abdurazoqov, who were also outside the SCNS-run pretrial detention center on December 25, will also be summoned for questioning       

Tajik known businessman Zayd Saidov, who is also the leader of Tajikistan”s unregistered New Tajikistan party, was sentenced to 26 years in prison and confiscation of property on December 25.
