DUSHANBE, November 13, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday November 12, a joint signing ceremony was held at the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe.

Japan’s Embassy says ten new projects to be implemented in various locations of Tajikistan were signed by Mr. Takashi Kamada, Ambassador of Japan to Tajikistan, and the representatives of the beneficiary organizations, with Mr. Kentaro Sonoura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, being the witness. Mr. Nizomiddin Zohidi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, commemorated the occasion at the ceremony.

The ten new projects, funded fully under the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), are:

“The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Clinic No.4 in Khujand City” signed with Mr. Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, Mayor of Khujand, for the amount of US$ 88,341;

“The Project for Refurbishment of Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at Central Hospital of Konibodom District” signed with Mr. Rustam Qodirov, Deputy Chairperson of Konibodom District, for the amount of US$100,993;

“The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Central Hospital of Bobojonghafourov District” signed with Mr. Abdusamad Mannonzoda, Chairperson of Bobojonghafourov District, for the amount of US$87,585;

“The Project for Provision of School Equipment for 7 Secondary Schools in Isfara District” signed with Mr. Davron Zohidzoda, Chairperson of Isfara District, for the amount of US$88,529;

“The Project for Provision of Heavy Machinery for Improvement of Infrastructure in Kuhistoni Mastchoh District” signed with Mr. Suhrob Okhundzoda, Chairperson of Kuhistoni Mastchoh District, for the amount of US$97,624;

“The Project for Construction of New School Building for School No. 58 in Navobod Village, Hasan Huseinov Jamoat, Yovon District” signed with Mr. Askar Nabiyev, First Deputy Chairperson of Yovon District, for the amount of US$92,070;

“The Project for Construction of Medical Point in Yangiyul Village, Chubek Jamoat, Hamadoni District” signed with Mr. Abduqodir Valizoda, Chairperson of Hamadoni District, for the amount of US$88,120;

“The Project for Building Refurbishment and Provision of Equipment at Regional Hospital No.1 in Navrouz Jamoat, Nosiri Khusrav District” signed with Mr. Vali Ashourov, Chairperson of Nosiri Khusrav District, for the amount of US$100,650;

“The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Surgical Department at Central Hospital of Shahrituz District” signed with Mr. Abduhalim Ismoilzoda, Chairperson of Shahritous District, for the amount of US$87,686.

“The Project for Construction of Medical Point in Navbahor Village, Bist-solagii Istiqloliyat Jamoat, Qubodiyon District” signed with Mr. Sadullo Begnazarzoda, Chairperson of Qubodiyon District, for the amount of US$87,690.

On the same day, a handover ceremony was held at the Tajikistan Gastroenterology Hospital whereupon the completion of “The Project for Improvement of Liver and Pancreatic Surgical Department of Tajikistan Gastroenterology Hospital” was marked and celebrated.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kentaro Sonoura, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Nasimjon Olimov, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of Population of Tajikistan, and Ms. Saodat Azimova, Director of Tajikistan Gastroenterology Hospital, along with other hospital personnel.

The total amount of US$111,283 was granted to the project through the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).  Modern laparoscopic devices essential in treating liver and pancreatic diseases were installed through the project.

The Government of Japan is dedicated to continuing its support for creating a better society for all people and committed to working together with the people of Tajikistan.

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in developing countries.  GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  As of today, GGP has supported 330 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 26.4 million has been provided since 1996.
