DUSHANBE, March 3, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Monday March 2, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received the CIS Executive Committee Head Sergey Lebedev, who headed the CIS election observation mission to monitor the March 1 parliamentary elections in Tajikistan.
The Tajik president’s official website reports Rahmon and Lebedev discussed issues related to preparation and holding of the parliamentary elections in Tajikistan.
Lebedev reportedly informed Emomali Rahmon about conclusions made by the CIS election observers and noted that 257 representatives of nine CIS member nations monitored the parliamentary elections in Tajikistan.
The CIS Executive Committee stressed that the elections were democratic and transparent and were held in full compliance with Tajikistan’s legislation, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
The two reportedly also discussed cooperation between the CIS member nations and a role of Tajikistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
