DUSHANBE, August 12, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik swimmer Olim Qurbonov, participating in men’s 50-meter freestyle, has left Rio Olympics after failing to pass the qualification standard.

According to Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC), Olim Qurbonov, who is the first-year student at Tajik Institute of Physical training, yesterday finished 62nd among 85 swimmers and dropped out of further competition.

Meanwhile, four Tajik athletes will continue competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games:  hummer thrower Dilshod Nazarov; judoka Muhammadmurod Abdurahmonov (+100kg); swimmer Anastasia Tyurina (women’s free-style 50 m); and female runner Cristina Pronzhenko (a 200-meter dash).
