DUSHANBE, June 15, 2017, Asia-Plus – A young pregnant woman has thrown herself off a bridge into a river.  A search operation for her body is under way.

The tragedy took place near the city of Norak on June 13, according to the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan.

The 28-year-old Arafa Khudoinazarova from the village of Langar reportedly threw herself off a bridge into the Vakhsh River before the very eyes of witnesses.  

Recall, similar tragedy occurred in Norak in February.  The 25-year-old Zuhro Mahmadyorova threw her four baby daughters and herself off a bridge into the Vakhsh River on February 5.  The bodies of the woman and her daughters were found next day.  

327 suicide and suicide attempt cases have been reported in Tajikistan this year.  634 such cases were reported in 2015 and 550 such cases were reported in the country in 2014.
