Tajik and Uzbek defense officials have met in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, to discuss issues related to transit of military cargo via Uzbekistan territory.

A meeting of representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan with senior representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan has taken place at the Museum of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

The Tajik delegation was led by Colonel Nazarahmad Qosimzoda, Chief of the Military Transportation Service.

The press center of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan reports the two sides, in particular, have discussed the process of implementation of a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on transit of military cargo via Uzbek territory that was signed during a state visit of the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Dushanbe in March last year.

This agreement reportedly provides for unimpeded transit of military cargo via Uzbekistan territory.

For example, the agreement provides for unimpeded movement of military cargo by rail from the central part of Tajikistan to the Tajik northern Sughd province.
