Officers from police station No 1 in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district have arrested a 47-year-old Rahmonali Tabarov, a previously convicted local resident, on charges of multiple thefts from vehicles and construction sites.

The Dushanbe Police Directorate press center says Tabarov had been breaking car windows near residential buildings and stealing money and valuables.  He is also accused of repeatedly entering construction sites illegally to steal power tools and building materials.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under Article 244 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code — theft.

Tabarov is currently being held in pretrial detention as investigators look into other possible theft cases linked to him.

Teen in Dushanbe charged with over 20 car burglaries and vehicle theft

In a separate incident, a 17-year-old M. Odinayev was arrested by officers from police station No 2 in Dushanbe’s Sino district.  Authorities suspect him of being behind more than 20 car break-ins and at least one car theft.

Investigators say Odinayev would break car windows and steal cash, phones, and other valuable items. He is also suspected of unlawfully taking a vehicle without the intent to steal it permanently.

The teenager had previously been prosecuted for similar crimes.  He now faces charges undertow articles of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code: Article 244 – theft; and Article 252 — unlawful taking of a vehicle without the intent to steal.  An investigation is under way.
