Quvvatov’s murder most likely connected with his business activity, says Tajik MP

Date:

DUSHANBE, March 6, 2015, Asia-Plus — Umarali Quvvatov’s murder is most likely connected with his business activity, Jourakhon Majidzoda, ex-chief of the Interior Ministry Organized Crime Control Directorate (UBOP) and former chief of Tajik Police Academy, who was elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of Tajikistan) on March 1, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, there are few special services in the world that could send a killer to another country.

“As far as I know, Umarali Quvvatov have buncoed many people, and therefore, there are quite a few people, who have a grudge against him,” Majidzoda noted.

We will recall that Tajik opposition organization Group 24 leader Umarali Quvvatov was shot in the head on a street in Istanbul, Turkey late on March 5.

A tycoon who reportedly once had close ties to President Emomali Rahmon’s family but became an opponent, Umarali Quvvatov was wanted by the Tajik authorities on fraud charges that he said were politically motivated.
