Organized by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, large-scale military exercises will be conducted at three military training grounds in Khatlon province.

The exercises involving servicemen of the Tajik Defense Ministry and the Russian military base deployed in Tajikistan, local police, reservists and civilian support services as well as military aircraft, armored carriers and artillery will be conducted at the Sumbulak, Momurika and Harbmaidon training grounds in the second half of April, Colonel Faridoun Mahmadalizoda, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus Monday (April 5) afternoon.   

According to him, the purpose of the exercises is to rehearse coordination and interaction in combat missions in the event of threats on the southern borders of the CIS.
