Opening of branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute discussed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, April 29, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Chancellor of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University), Sergey Serebryannikov, has been in Dushanbe this week for a working visit.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), the main purpose of the visit was for Serebryannikov to discuss with Tajik officials issues related to opening of the institute’s branch in Dushanbe.

On April 28, Serebryannikov met with Tajik Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali to discuss the mentioned issues.

The branch is expected to be opened in a new academic year and Mr. Serebryannikov noted that Power Engineering Institute would open preliminary courses and select students.

During his stay in Dushanbe, Serebryannikov also got acquainted with the building that had been provided for the branch by the Tajik side.  The building will be renovated by Barqi Tojik power holding, the source said.

Founded in 1930, Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) is one of the largest and leading technical universities in the world in the area of power engineering, electronics and IT.  Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) was created by uniting several faculties of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics.
