KHUJAND, November 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Cashier with the Sughd regional hospital, Poulod Boboyev, who was on Tajik police’s wanted list, was detained by officers from the Sughd anticorruption directorate in Russian Federation on November 23.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Sughd anticorruption directorate chief Millopar Bandishoyev said that Boboyev was suspected of having embezzled state funds.  “During 2005-2008, Boboyev and Bobo Rezvonov, a chief accountant with the regional hospital, embezzled more than 1.7 million somoni of state funds,” the anticorruption directorate chief said, noting that Boboyev and Rezvonov had fled the country.

“Criminal proceedings against them were instituted last month and they were put on the list of persons wanted by police,” Bandishoyev said.

“Poulod Boboyev was detained in Russia last Sunday, while Rezvonov is still wanted by the police,” he noted.
