DUSHANBE, November 25, Asia-Plus — The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament considered a draft law “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations in the Republic of Tajikistan” at a November 24 meeting presided over by its speaker, Saydullo Khairulloyev.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said that the board also considered amendments to the laws on putting the administrative code into effect, measures for protection economic interests of Tajikistan in external trade, as well as the issue of extending the term of consideration of the law on dehqon (peasant) farms.
The board also discussed amendments to laws on the status of members of the GBAO, regional, city and district legislatures (Majlis), provision of uniformity of measurements, national backlog and archive institutions.
Some of these issues will be considered at the sitting of fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation on October 26, Sultonov said.
