Uzbekistan objects against formation of new military bases on the territory of neighboring states, high rank source in country”s government reported on Sunday.

The question is possible formation of new Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan, source reported with reference to various mass media.

Delegation of Russian government visited Kyrgyzstan this week and held close meetings with country”s authorities. In the course of negotiations topic of expansion of Russian military presence in the republic, in particular, opening of military base in the south of the country, was discussed, source in Kyrgyz government reported.

President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev did not either confirm or deny information on the fact that Russia holds negotiations with Kyrgyzstan on formation of new base for CSTO collective forces during press conference on “G8” summit results on Friday.

“According to some data Igor Sechin and Alexandr Serdyukov recently visited Kyrgyzstan and held confidential negotiations with President Kurmanbek Bakiev on opening Russian military base in the south of the country – in the region of Osh or Batken towns,” source reported.

“Tashkent strongly objects against formation of new foreign military bases in neighboring states,” high rank source underlined.

On Sunday US Under Secretary of State stated that he considers possibility of opening new Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan a sovereign right of the republic.
