DUSHANBE, March 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday March 3, President Emomali Rahmon attended the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a cryolite production plant in the Yovon district, Khatlon province, according to presidential press service.

President Rahmon said that the plant would allow providing Tajik aluminum smelter with domestic raw materials.  Besides, the plant will create new jobs.

The president noted that the estimated budget for construction of that plant was 200 million somoni and 100 million somoni worth of equipment for the plant had already been delivered to the country.  The plant is expected to produce 18,000 tons of aluminum fluoride and 12,000 of cryolite per year.

Rahmon said that a plant for producing sulfuric acid and aluminum power would be built in Yovon as well.  The estimate cost of the project is 180 million somoni and the plant will have the rated capacity of manufacturing 100,000 tons of product per year.

During his stay in Yovon, the president also attended a ceremony of introduction of the first line a spinning mill into operation.  The Yovon spinning mill is expected to operate in full capacity by 2014.
