DUSHANBE, April 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  –The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament considered an agreement on the Collective Operational Reaction Forces (CORF) created within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) at an April 19 meeting, presided over by the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker, Shukurjon Zuhurov.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon press service, said the board also considered amendments to the country’s family code.  

The board also discussed the establishment of parliamentary groups of friendship and cooperation with Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Cuba, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Pakistan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen.

The board members also considered issues related to the establishment of a national group of the parliament’s lower house for representation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union as well as members of general committees of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, EAEC Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the OIC Parliamentary Union. 

Some of these issues will be considered at the next sitting of the first session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, Sultonov said.
