KULOB, July 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of this year, Shouroobod district has produced a total of 8.6676 million somoni worth of industrial goods, which is 354,900 somoni more than in the same period last year, according to the Shouroobod district administration.

Over the report period, Shouroobod has reportedly produced 22.1 tons of vegetable oil, 3,371 tons of wheat four and 64 tons of bread and bakeries.

An average monthly wage in the district has increased 230.00 somoni in 2010 to 235.00 somoni, the source said.

In the meantime, the coal mining enterprise, Koni Angisht (Coal Deposit), has suspended coal productions this year.  It has also suspended operations at its coal-brick-production workshop based in the village of Yol.   The source says the coal productions have been suspended due to lack of finance and skilled personnel.

The field operated by Koni Angisht reportedly has explored coal reserves of 88,000 tons and possible coal reserves of 1.9 million tons.  Until 2011, Koni Angisht had produced 3,000-3,500 tons of coal per year.
