KHUJAND, July 25, Asia-Plus  — Editorial staffs of media outlets operating in the northern Sughd province will move to the newly built Press Palace in Khujand soon, the Sughd Press Palace director Ilhom Jamoliyon told Asia-Plus today.

The Sughd Press Palace is a 13-story, 54-meter-tall high-rise building; it is the tallest building in Khujand.  the building consists of some 200 offices.

We will recall that a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the Press Palace was held in Khujand on November 27, 2007.  23 million somoni have reportedly been allocated from the national budget for construction of the building and purchase of the necessary equipment.

The building will house editorial offices of both state-run and private media outlets working in the province as well as printing-house, Jamoliyon said.  “TV companies cannot be placed in the building because they need special conditions, but correspondents working for the city and republican TV channels may lease offices in the building,” he added.
