Parliament approves ADB’s grant for refurbishment of Dushanbe-Uzbek border road

On Wednesday, April 25, the Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament approved grant agreement between Asian Development Bank and Tajikistan on refurbishment of the Dushanbe-Tursunzade-Uzbek border road.

Under the agreement, ADB will provide $120mln to Tajikistan for refurbishment of the Dushanbe-Tursunzade-Uzbek border road. The agreement was signed in January last year.

In his speech to deputies of the Chamber Tajik Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov said that refurbishment of the road will cost a total of $186mln.

“In addition to ADB’s grant the Government of Tajikistan will allocate $39mln for refurbishment of the road. Related talks on attraction of the remaining $27mln were conducted with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The talks are almost over and we expect to sign credit agreement with EBRD on allocation of additional funds,” he said.
