KHUAJND, March 3, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajik ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly won 87.5 percent of seats in the Khujand legislature (Majlis).
According to the Khujand electoral commission, the PDP has won elections in all 40 constituencies that were established in the city for election to the local council.
“The PDP won 35 of 40 seats in the Khujand legislature, the Communist Party (CPT) and the Party of Economic Reforms (PER) won two seats each and the Agrarian Party (APT) won a seat in the Khujand Majlis,” an official source at the Khujand electoral commission told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, 81 people, including 54 PDP candidates, 16 PER candidates, seven APT candidates, three CPT candidates and one self-propelled candidate, competed for 40 seats in the Khujand legislature.
