A training for employees of small hydroelectric power plants (HPP) on providing efficient and sustainable operation of the small HPPs has been conducted in Dushanbe.
Organized by the Association of the Power Engineers of Tajikistan (Association) under support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan), the training has brought together representatives of local authorities, subdivisions of Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s national integrated power company), NGOs, and employees of small HPPs from Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center.
The Association chairperson, Ms. Rafiqa Mousoyeva, says, “The main objective of the event was in raising potential of specialists dealing with issues related to the use of the renewable energy resources, the implementation of the tariff policy, and providing an efficient operation of small HPPs.”
“In the framework of the project “Extending Electricity Access in Targeted Communities through the Implementation of Tariff Policy by the Example of Small HPPs and Raising Consumers’ Awareness,” the level of knowledge of beneficiaries of legal foundation and existing rules regarding the use of the renewable energy resources has been assessed. The survey findings have shown that energy specialists in the regions are not well aware of legal foundation and existing rules regarding the use of the renewable energy resources,” Ms. Mousoyeva noted.
Issues related to calculation of valid tariff sizes, technical conditions connecting small HPPs to power supply networks of Barqi Tojik, and conclusion of agreements on sales of electricity generated by small HPPs have reportedly been included in programs of three training seminars conducted by the Association for beneficiaries from Khatlon, Sughd, and districts subordinate to the center.
