Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population, Ms. Sumangul Taghoyzoda, heading a Tajik delegation participated in the 21st session of the CIS Council of Heads of Migration Bodies that took place in the Moscow oblast.

The meeting participants included senior representatives of migration bodies from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as representatives of Turkmenistan, CIS Executive Committee, CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Eurasian Economic Commission, UNHCR Office and General Confederation of Trade Unions.

“In a report released at the session, Taghoyzoda touched upon issues related to Tajikistan’s Labor Ministry’s activities in the field of migration,” Ibrohim Ahmadzoda, a spokesman for Tajik migration service agency’s office in Moscow, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Ms. Taghoyzoda, in particular, noted that working out a number of draft agreements between Tajikistan and Russia on readmission, organized recruitment of labor migrants and provision of pensions to labor migrants is nearing completion, according to Ahmadzoda.

Signing of these agreements is expected to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia in resolving migration problems.

The session participants also discussed the current migration situation in the CIS member nations and the issue of creation of a single database of citizens of their third countries and stateless persons, Ahmadzoda added.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring says the session participants also signed a protocol on interaction between the CIS Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units and the CIS Council of Heads of Migration Bodies.

The Council of Heads of Migration Bodies was established under the decision of CIS Council of Heads of State dated October 5, 2007.  The CIS Council of Heads of Migration Service comprises heads of migration service agencies from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
