Officers of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) have reportedly seized 100 kilograms of hashish.

According to the SCNS public relations center, the 28-year-old resident of the Yomj village in GBAO’s Shugnan district, Shuhrat Tuiboshev, was detained on June 9 on suspicion of illegally keeping a large amount of narcotic drugs and weapons. 

Several package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 100 kilograms as well two Glock pistols and one Beretta pistol were found hidden in his home.  

During the arrest of Tuiboshev, three Afghan nationals who were with him reportedly put up an armed resistance.  Two of them managed to return to Afghan territory while the third one was killed, the SCNS public relations center said. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Tuiboshev under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 335 – illegally border crossing; Article 195 — illegally bearing, possessing, and acquiring weapons; and Article 200 – drug trafficking.  An investigation is under way.
