Chief of the National Security Service (SGB) of Uzbekistan, Ikhtiyor Abdullayev, on June 12 arrived in Dushanbe on a working visit.

Ikhtiyor Abdullayev and chief of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan, Saymumin Yatimov, will discuss issues related to cooperation between their agencies in combating international terrorism, controlling border and exchanging information, according to the SCNS public relations center.

Tajik and Uzbek security services are expected to sign a cooperation agreement.

While in Tajikistan, SGB chief will also visit the site for construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) to get acquainted with the progress of construction of the facility.

Recall, SCNS chief, Saymumin Yatimov, visited Tashkent in April this year at the invitation of his Uzbek counterpart.

The State Committee for National Security is the principal national security and intelligence agency of Tajikistan. Its main responsibilities include internal and border security, counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, fighting organized crime, and surveillance.
