Uzbek media reports say Emirati company Masdar, also known as the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, will build wind farms in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 400 MW.

An agreement on this subject was signed between the Government Uzbekistan and Mubadala Development Company (UAE) and its subsidiary Masdar, according to Podrobno.uz.

The wind farms will be built in the Navoi region and will be introduced into operation in 2022.  The cost of the project is reportedly 600 million U.S. dollars.

In 2019, Masdar won a tender on attraction of investments in Uzbekistan’s alternative energy sector on the basis of the public-private partnership (PPP).  The same year, an agreement on construction of a 100 MW photovoltaic power plant in the Navoi region was signed.

Masdar, also known as the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, is a renewable energy company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Masdar has three business units including Masdar Clean Energy, Masdar City, and Masdar Capital.  Masdar's mission is complemented by the Masdar Institute, an independent research university. Masdar is a subsidiary of the Mubadala Development Company and was founded in 2006.
