Kurmanbek Bakiev said during a meeting with the U.S.General David Petraeus that Kyrgyzstan will seek to assist in restoration of Afghanistan. The statement was voiced by the President’s secretariat.

Reportedly, the Kyrgyz President and the U.S. General have discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest. In particular, David Petraeus has noticed that the U.S. highly appreciates cooperation work with Kyrgyzstan as well as the present partner relations between the countries. The General has also expressed thanks for rendering of support in the anti-terrorist operation “Indestructible Freedom” in Afghanistan.

David Petraeus explained in detail the Kyrgyz President about the situation in Afghanistan and social and economic measures on restoration of this country undertaken by the U.S. government, the report reveals.

In turn, Kurmanbek Bakiev has noticed that the basic challenges and threat to the Central Asia comes from Afghanistan. Thereby Kyrgyzstan is very interested in safety and stability in the region and will continue supporting the restoration of Afghanistan together with the world community.
