In the course of his official trip to Beijing Tajik Defense Minister Colonel General Sherali Hairulloev met with his Russian counterpart Anatoly Serdyukov. The two top defense officials are scheduled to take part in the high-level meeting of top defense officials of SCO member states due in Beijing on Tuesday.

The meeting resulted in signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement regarding training of teenaged Tajik citizens in Russian Defense Ministry’s education institutions.

“This creates related legislative basis which allows Tajik citizens to study at Russian Suvorov colleges and military schools,” RIA Novosti has quoted a spokeswoman for Russian Defense Ministry Irina Kovalchuk as saying.

RIA Novosti reports that Serdyukovalso met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Major General Taalaibek Omuraliev to sign a protocol on compensation of rental fee for dislocation of Russian military objects on Kyrgyzstan’s territory.

“Therefore, the problem of rental fee for military objects has been completely solved,” Kovalchuk said, stressing that “the signing of the protocol means offset of debt.”
