DUSHANBE, August 6, 2015, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has signed a decree on awarding cash prizes to Tajik athletes who will win medals at international competitions, according to the State Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.

An official source at the State Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs says a relevant decree was signed by the president on January 9 this year.

According to him, gold medalists will be awarded 300,000 somoni each, silver medalists – 200,000 somoni each and bronze medalists – 150,000 somoni each.

This decision is made to stimulate athletes and promote the development of sports in the country, the source said.  The president’s reserve fund will allocate money to award cash prizes to athletes, the source said.
