Tajik, Iranian police training academies sign memorandum of cooperation

DUSHANBE, August 6, 2015, Asia-Plus – The Tajikistan Ministry of Interior”s Police Training Academy and Iran’s “Amin” Police University have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

According to the Tajik Interior Ministry’s website, the document was inked in Dushanbe on August 5 by Fayzali Sharifzoda, the Head of the Tajikistan Ministry of Interior”s Police Training Academy and Lutfali Bakhtiari, Commander of “Amin” Police University.

The document was signed after a meeting of a delegation of Iran’s Ministry of Internal Affairs with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda.

Tajik interior minister reportedly noted that police officers played an important role in the fight against terrorism, extremism, cyber crimes and trafficking in drugs and weapons and drug trafficking.

Lutfali Bakhtiari, for his part, noted that Iran was ready to share its experience and expand bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan on combating terrorism, extremism, cyber crimes, etc.

The two sides reportedly also discussed issues related to training of personnel for Tajik police.

The Tajikistan Ministry of Interior”s Police Training Academy was established in 1990, and it is located in Dushanbe with an additional campus in Khujand. It is a four-year institution, and Tajikistan”s largest law enforcement education institution.

According to Iranian media outlets, “Amin” Police University has seven faculties, including the “leadership,” “intelligence and investigations,” “administrations – logistics” and “traffic” as well as training police international center, training managers center and “Amar” center for moral and ideological guidance.
