Last month, inflation rate in Tajikistan stood at 1.1 percent, which is 0.6 percent higher than in June, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, over the first half-year of 2018, inflation has stood at 0.8 percent due to the two-month deflation process that was interrupted in April: 0.4 percent in January; 0.5 percent in April, 0.6 percent in May; and 0.5 percent in June.

Rising prices for fuel products and plane tickets have reportedly had a ripple effect on the July inflation rate.

A sudden spike in prices for fuel products, especially liquefied natural gas, has led to increase in the prices of some other products in the country.

Non-foodstuffs have reportedly risen in cost 3.8 percent in January-July the with the prices increasing most significantly for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) — 17 percent. The LNG price hike has reportedly resulted from the decreasing LNG imports into the country.

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population have reportedly increased by 8.3 percent over the report period with prices increasing mostly for air tickets – 2.1 times.

Meanwhile prices for products of food industry have reportedly decreased in January-July by 0.7 percent.

Recall, Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.

Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would to stand at 7.0 percent.
