DUHANBE, October 2, 2012, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday October 2, outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Asrukhin conferred here with Shukurjon Zuhurov, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) at the end of his tenure to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoynadagon, says the sides discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Indonesia.

They, in particular, noted that there is considerable room for expansion of economic ties between the two countries.

Tajik parliamentary speaker expressed satisfaction with the level of training of personnel for Tajikistan at Indonesian universities.  More than 100 Tajik young Tajiks are currently studying at higher educational institutes.

Mr. Zuhurov noted that Indonesia specialists could assist Tajikistan with developing the tourism industry in Tajikistran.

For his part, Mr. Mohammad Asrukhin noted that events to acquaint Tajik nationals with culture and history of Indonesia will take place in Khujand, the capital of the northern Sughd province at the end of the current month.
